Disposable Face Mask

A procedural mask is intended to prevent the release of potential contaminants from the user into their immediate environment which can also protect the wearer from large droplets, sprays and splashes of bodily fluids. It is easily identifiable by the presence of two ear loops to secure the mask to the face for quick donning.

Procedure masks are not surgical mask and are used on hospital floors, isolation units, and labor and delivery units, among other areas of the hospital for generally "respiratory etiquette" to prevent clinicians, patients and visitors from spreading germs by talking, coughing, or sneezing.1,2 These masks may also be used in the emergency department and the intensive care unit. However, they are non-sterile and designed for clean environments which not suitable for use in the operating room.1 Surgical masks are required in this case which are designed for sterile environments.

Our disposable procedural face masks contain 3 layers: an inner soft absorbent non-woven fabric, a middle melt-blown material that acts as a filter and an outer hydrophobic non-woven fabric; and they are manufactured in accordance with both standards of "Daily Protective Mask" (GB/T 32610-2016) and "Disposable Medical Mask" (YY/T 0969-2013) to provide a better protection. The bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) is ≥95% (YY/T 0969-2013 and YY 0469-2011). They provide physical barrier that protects both wearers and others from the transfer of respiratory secretions, fluids or other debris and avoid the contamination of bacteria or viruses present in mucus and saliva. However, please note our disposable masks are NOT surgical masks and NOT for medical use. These are designed for general uses. For front-line health professionals, please follow the guidelines from CDC and FDA and get the correct PPE to protect yourselves.

KN95 Respirator

Filtering facepiece respirators (FFR) are subject to various regulatory standards around the world (see examples below) and provide a much higher level of protection with face form fitting and greater pressure drop. To claim compliance with the particular standard as listed below, these respirators must meet or exceed required physical properties and performance characteristics, which can vary according to the regulatory bodies of different countries.

• N95 (United States NIOSH-42CFR84)
• KN95 (China GB2626-2006)
• FFP2 (Europe EN 149-2001)

They are not exactly the same, but they are expected to function very similarly to one another. KN95 face mask is N95 equivalent but NOT NIOSH approved. Our KN95 is non-sterile for general use and not for surgical use. For frontline workers, please follow the guidelines from Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and choose the correct PPE carefully to protect yourself.

A reference by 3M in a technical bulletin* released in January 2020 demonstrates that the several country-specific standards used to grade the FFR tend to converge into functional equivalence. N95 (US), KN95 (China) and FFP2 (EU) standards produce FFR devices that are similar enough to be interchangeable for the purposes of their use in a pandemic. All of them are good for filtering non-oil-based particles such as those resulting from wildfires, PM 2.5 air pollution, volcanic eruptions, or bioaerosols (e.g. viruses).
